diatomaceous neckpiece by ~discomedusa. A necklace cast in sterling silver with the linked barbed tendrils ingeniously holding it all together and although it only looks like it's uncomfortable, it is totally wearable. ( Featured by Kitten-of-Woe )

This is injurious to wearer and whoever comes near. The design of spiny twigs contrast well to the round holey~beads, like ying~yang or feminine~masculine. The most astounding aspect is the attachment is of the twigs when one expects it to be the balls. :worship:

It totally tells people to stay away from who wears it.

Still very beautiful piece of jewelry.

Cool, I made a pendant with a similar ball too, should shoot it soon... resembles some microbial life in a lovely way! But those thorns can't be comfy to wear???-)

To be totally honest, at first glance i thought it was made of spiders... XD While it is certainly very intersting, it'd be hard to find a good outfit to go with it, and I agree with the others: That would be uncomfortable to wear OR come in contact with. Wow.

ha! I was just explaining to a bunch of people the other day what diatoms are... I'm such a fan of them, this is a really wonderful thing to see. Glad it got a daily deviation, and that I got a chance to have a look at it!

Nice to look at. :]

I bet it ain't nice to wear though. o.o" One wrong move and I get a bunch of thorns stuck on mah neck. Dx

One thing I can critic about is why you didn't take a picture of the back of the necklace. I really like seeing every angle of jewelery, especially this piece. :D So much detail. :o

you're totally right, i need more photos of this piece- the back and clasp are intergrated.

thanks for the comment!
it can be worn with ...minimal discomfort- you just think of your posture more!

Wow. I haven't seen a lot of portrayal of plankton in art, and what's even cooler is that it is jewelry! Very well done, and it makes my inner biology-nerd happy ^^

a little bit itchy- the metal pokes against the skin a bit but doesn't scratch. would snag fabric, for certain.

It's gorgeous. I love how it's very organic looking despite being made in sterling silver. It gives the wearer a kind of "stay away from me" look. :giggle:

it's only me that doesn't like it?
this is completely unusable. the amount of small movements that the human body makes would make a huge amount of scratches and injuries.

if this is just a piece of art then it's great, if it's a piece of jewelery to be use... it doesn't work.

this was a project in my junior year of art school- to make a necklace with an alternating integrated A-B link.

i've worn it comfortably enough for a few photo shoots, and it would probably do for a fashion show or fancy party. i think it looks best as a puddle of shapes on display in a case.

i agree- i usually disdain unwearable jewelry art.
my current work is a long series of unique-but-wearable earrings.
